The Nutcracker circa 1900

1900 was the year Preobrajenska found fame, earning the title prima ballerina.

Legat’s brother, Sergei, was the original star of The Nutcracker in 1892. Falling out of favour with the authorities at the outbreak of the First Russian Revolution, he tragically committed suicide at the age of twenty-nine.
